Gene Cousart's Arabia

The songs are designed to amuse and entertain; no offence is intended to anyone. Arabia tells a story about the country of Saudi Arabia and some of the people you might meet here. Any resemblance to persons here depicted and those living or dead is purely intentional. The music may sound familiar, the tunes were originally performed by: Ray Davies, George Harrison, Pete Townshed, David Bowie, Al Stewart, P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri, Robbie Robertson, Alan Menken and Lennon/McCartney. The lyrics of these songs have been reviewed and approved by a local and very well respected authority… that chooses to remain anomynous.

About the Songs

Arabia-Land of King Abdulaziz
The year was 1902. Living in exile in Kuwait, 21 year old Abdul Aziz ibn Abdur Rahman ibn Faisal ibn Turki al Saud had a historic idea.

The Men From Standard Oil
Twenty-one years passed and in 1933, the Men from Standard Oil stood in Bahrain looking toward Saudi Arabia and the Dammam Dome. What they saw looked very promising.

A meeting was arranged to negotiate exploration rights between the representatives of the powerful John D. Rockfeller and the King of Saudi Arabia. Both men were accustomed to having things their way.

Good Old Boy
Eventually a deal was struck and the oil was surely there! But to get at it, a previously unknown type of man made his appearance on the Arabian scene. Whether by way of Oklahoma, Texas or Scotland the “Good Old Boy” worked hard and played even harder.

You’re Aramcon
Everyone who ever interviewed at ASC in Houston has sat through “the presentation”, complete with the Travelogue at the end. If all goes smoothly with your interview you are in for a life full of exotic international travel and intrigue;

Hypo Tax Plan
Once hired, all the details of your compensation package are clearly explained to you. The translation of that being, you don’t understand a single thing they tell you about…

Somewhere That’s Green
Aramco spanned the world looking for only the most talented people to do the work that needed to be done. This is the heartwarming story of an Irish Secretary.

Mother Aramco
As the years passed Aramco prospered; a typical Aramcon’s lifestyle became much, much more comfortable: “Like rocking in your sweet mama’s arms”.

Big Dhab Lizard
A visit to Dhahran would not be complete without a trip to the Dining Hall and a “behind the scene” look at what is going on in the kitchen.

Al Hum-Do-Lil-lah
After decades of loyal service to Saudi Aramco an employee, with mixed emotions, looks back at his career and forward to retirement

The Wait
There is just one last thing to do, wait for the movers!

Chicken Swarma
Once you retire to your own country you will surely miss one of the main delights of living in the Middle East is the Lebanese version of the hamburger.

I just had some time to listen to it myself, as completely mixed and "polished".
Extraordinary project!
And experience.
Special thanks to Gene and Mark.
Congratulation to Diane, and the rest of the crowd.
